Speaker of the People’s Majlis and Former President Mohamed Nasheed is in the United States of America on an official visit.
The People’s Majlis revealed that Nasheed departed for Washington on Wednesday and that he is scheduled to conclude his trip and return on April 17.
According to the People’s Majlis, the purpose of Nasheed’s visit to Washington is to attend the 10th V20 Ministerial Dialogue of the Vulnerable Twenty (V20) Groups of Ministers of Finance, co-organized by the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) and International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The visit comes upon the official invitation from current chair of V20, Ghanian Finance Minister Ken Ofri-Atta to attend the ministerial dialogue.
The ministerial dialogue is themed “From Accra to Marrakesh: Advocating Fit-for-Climate Financial Architecture and Development-Positive Climate Action”.
On the sidelines of his official visit, Nasheed is scheduled to sit down with senior officials from the IMF, World Bank as well as CVF for discussions.
