The Vice President and the Special Envoy also discussed prospects for further strengthening bilateral ties

The Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Korea and Senior Secretary to the President for Political Affairs, Lee Jin-bok, has paid a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem.

The meeting was held at the President’s Office on Wednesday.

The meeting saw the Vice President and the Special Envoy engaged in dialogue to address key issues of mutual interest. This included resuming direct air connectivity between the two countries.

They also discussed expanding cooperation in education, tourism, trade, and investment, increasing collaboration on climate change, and achieving sustainability goals.

The Vice President and the Special Envoy also discussed prospects for further strengthening bilateral ties through cooperation on the human resource development of health sector workers in the Maldives.

Speaking further on healthcare cooperation, the Vice President expressed his gratitude to the government of the Republic of Korea for the generous consideration extended to the Maldives during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Maldives established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Korea on November 30, 1966.
