Maldives Police Service (MPS) has disclosed that they have arrested one person in connection with the stabbing attack inside a shop in capital Male’ City on Friday.
The Commissioner of Police Mohammed Hameed made the announcement via twitter.
As such, the CP disclosed that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the Friday night attack with a sharp weapon inside a shop in Male' City's Maafannu district.
He was arrested following a police investigation, under a court order.
The CP stated that he was arrested on Saturday night.
A 30-year-old Maldivian man was stabbed in the incident.
MPS disclosed that the man was stabbed inside a shop located near the BG Garage in Maafannu district of Male’ at around 09:30 pm.
As per bystanders, the young man ran into the shop to evade his pursuers. However, two men on a motorcycle arrived at the shop and stabbed him leaving him in a pool of his blood.
Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) disclosed that the man is now receiving treatment at the hospital. As such, the hospital stated that doctors performed surgery on him, and that he is currently on ventilator support.
