Most of the hearings scheduled for Thursday at the Criminal Court have been cancelled due to damages to the building.
As technical experts concerned have advised that the building where the court is functioning is not safe to use, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to move the Criminal Court to another building, temporarily.
JSC had also decided to immediately stop the use of the four-story old building, one of the two buildings where the court is functioning.
RaajjeMV understands that parts of the court’s old building had collapsed during Wednesday as well.
Several hearings were scheduled to take place at the Criminal Court on Thursday.
However, only the hearings that could not be rescheduled or pushed back and were necessary to be held, were carried out at the Criminal Court.
As the building was damaged beyond use, the rest of the hearings were cancelled.
