FM Shahid expressed appreciation for the longstanding relations Russia has maintained with the archipelago nation

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has expressed gratitude for the Russian government’s generous contributions towards human resource development as well as the enhanced people-to-people links that exist between the two countries.

This was done during a courtesy call Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Maldives Levan S. Dzhagaryan paid on FM Shahid on Sunday.

He presented his Letter of Credence to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as the newly appointed Ambassador of Russia to Maldives on Sunday.

The new Russian Ambassador also called on Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel with whom he discussed enhancing the longstanding bilateral relations between both countries.

At the meeting with FM Shahid, the Maldivian minister congratulated the ambassador on presenting credentials to the Maldivian president and welcomed him to the island nation.

FM Shahid went on to express appreciation for the longstanding relations Russia has maintained with the archipelago nation.

The Maldivian minister went on to express gratitude to the government of Russia for its contribution towards human resource development and the enhanced people to people links that exist between both countries.

The meeting saw Ambassador Dzhagaryan assuring FM Shahid that he remains committed to work with the Maldivian government, to further strengthen bilateral relations during his ambassadorial tenure.

The meeting was joined by State Minister Khaleel, Foreign Secretary Ahmed Latheef, Bilateral Secretary Dr. Hala Hameed, Secretary Economic Cooperation Dr. Hussain Niyaz, Joint Secretary Shiuneen Rasheed and Desk Officer Aminath Shaistha Hamdan Zaki.

Ambassador Dzhagaryan was among the ambassadors and high commissioners from eight countries who presented their Letters of Credence to President Solih on Sunday.

The ceremony saw Letters of Credence presented from the newly appointed Ambassador of Mongolia Ganbold Dambajav, Ambassador of France Jean-François Pactet, Ambassador of the Russian Federation Levan Dzhagaryan, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia Siniša Pavić, Ambassador of Hellenic Republic Dimitrios Loannu, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia Mateja Vodeb Ghosh, High Commissioner of the Republic of Namibia Gabriel P. Sinimbo and High Commissioner of the Republic of Canada Eric Walsh.

After the credential’s ceremony, the Maldivian leader sat down with the ambassadors and high commissioners for discussions.
