Discussions have been held regarding the development vision of the incumbent administration for Rasmaadhoo island of Raa Atoll.
This was done during a meeting the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members held with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday.
During the meeting held at the President’s Office, extensive discussions revolved around the government's development agenda for the island.
The meeting saw Rasmaadhoo councilors expressing confidence in the Solih administration and its ability to deliver its development agenda.
As such, the councilors compared the progress of the island’s development over the course of the past four years, with the past administrations.
With this, island council members praised the Solih administrations for the generous amount of projects initiated during his tenure.
President Solih was also briefed regarding the needs and concerns of the island community.
As such, some of the topics discussed at the meeting included road construction, housing, healthcare as well as space and budget constraints for the council.
Members also pitched the idea to install a ramp at the harbor and the need for a football pitch.
The requirement of coastal protection in the island’s swimming area was also a topic of discussion.
WDC members who took part in the meeting briefed President Solih on their concerns regarding financial difficulties.
Listening to these concerns, President Solih agreed to work closely with the council and WDC to identify ways through which the grievances of the island community may be addressed and solved.
President Solih noted that his administration strives to establish essential services and carry out important development projects to boost island economies and increase their income.
