MVR 578 million spent on PSIP

MVR 71.4 million has been spent on harbor development projects by 26 January, 2023

The Maldivian Government has spent MVR 578 million on Public Sector Investment Programs (PSIP), by 26 January.

According to the statistics publicized by the Ministry of Finance, the highest expenditure was made on road development projects. As such a total of MVR 107.1 million has been spent on road development projects so far this year.

Statistics shows that the government has spent MVR 106.4 million on land reclamation by 26 January.

Additionally, the state has spent MVR 118.3 million on projects related to the transportation sector. As such, MVR 71.4 million was spent on harbor development projects and MVR 23.4 million has been spent on airport development projects during this time frame. MVR 23.5 million has been spent on bridge development projects.

Ministry's statistics also shows that MVR 53.2 million has been spent on housing and infrastructure projects.

Additionally, MVR 51.1 million has been spent on general administration projects.

The government has spent MVR 69.2 million on water and sewerage development projects. This includes MVR 36 million on installation of water and sewerage systems in islands, MVR 27 million spent on water systems and MVR 6.2 million spent on sewerage system installation.

Ministry's statistics goes on to reveal that MVR 28.7 million has been spent on the education sector.

While MVR 11.7 million has been spent on coastal protection projects, MVR 1.3 million was spent on waste management projects.

Statistics also shows that MVR 14.8 million was spent on the social sector.

Furthermore, MVR seven million was spent on health sector development projects.

The Maldivian Government's expenditure currently sits at MVR 2.6 billion according to the Finance Ministry.
