Four individuals have been arrested in a counter-narcotics operation.
This was revealed by Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed via a Twitter post on Sunday.
As such, he revealed that counter-narcotics teams from the Maldives Police Service (MPS) conducted a successful search operation at five locations in the Greater Malé Region on Saturday.
The search operations were conducted at four locations in Malé and one location in its suburban extension, Hulhumalé.
During the operations that were conducted on Saturday evening, officers arrested four individuals in possession of narcotics.
The operations saw the officers seizing 11.26 kilograms of cannabis, in total.
CP Hameed went on to reveal that further investigations have been launched in connection with the case of narcotics-possession.
MPS has been conducting a series of counter-narcotics operations in their efforts to curb drug smuggling and trafficking efforts and crackdown on such networks, spanning across the many atolls of the archipelago nation.
