25 cases of self-harm and suicidal behavior attended by Gender in November 2022
50 cases involving gender-based violence and domestic violence were reported to and attended

The Ministry received and attended to 252 cases in November 2022

Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services received and attended a total of 25 cases of self-harm and suicidal behavior in November 2022.

This was revealed by the Ministry on 08 January 2023.

The Ministry further disclosed that they received and attended to 252 cases in November 2022.

As such, a total of 107 cases were reported to and attended regarding violence against children during the month.

Gender Ministry notes that the most frequently reported cases in this category involved cases of neglect of which 28 cases were reported during this period.

Other cases reported in this category involved, 25 cases of sexual abuse, 18 cases of physical abuse, 17 cases of witness to domestic violence, nine cases of emotional abuse, three cases of victims of bullying and harassment, two cases of blackmail and two cases of sexual grooming of children.

A case of exploitation, one case of commercial exploitation or child labor and one case of cyber grooming of children were also reported to the Ministry during November 2022.

Furthermore, a total of 50 cases involving gender-based violence and domestic violence were reported to and attended by the Gender Ministry in November 2022.

As such, the most frequently reported cases involved 21 cases of physical violence or abuse.

Other cases reported in this category were 14 cases of emotional abuse or verbal abuse, 10 cases of intimidating, two cases of sexual violence or abuse, two case of economic and financial abuse and one case of sexual harassment.

Ministry's statistics shows that a total of 18 cases related to family issues were reported to and attended by the Ministry in November 2022.

They included eight cases of parenting issues, five cases of access to child and five cases of custody or access.

Gender Ministry went on to disclose that 22 cases related to care and support for elderly and persons with disabilities were reported and attended by the Ministry during November 2022.

Reported cases included 18 cases related to care and support for persons with disabilities and four cases of care and support to the elderly.

Additionally, two cases of social support and well being were reported and attended by the Ministry during the month.

A total of 20 cases were reported to and attended regarding behavioral problems in November 2022. They included six cases of refusal to attend school, four cases of disciplinary issues, three cases of temper tantrums, two cases of perpetrators of bullying, two cases of running away, two cases of delinquent behavior and one case of perpetrators of cyber bullying.

Furthermore, five cases of child rights violations were reported to and attended by the Ministry. Reported cases included two cases of refusal to send children to school, one case of birth registration, one case of acquiring NID card or passport or birth certificate and one case of refusal of access to health care.

 A total of three cases related to children in conflict with law were reported to and attended by the Gender Ministry in November 2022.

Statistics also showed that 189 children were under state care as of November 2022. As such, seven children were taken into state care, one child was reintegrated with the family, and one child who turned 18, was reintegrated to the society with a job.
