A Maldivian woman has been murdered in Nolhivaram island of Haa Dhaal atoll.

Speaking to RaajjeMV regarding the murder, Nolhivaram island council member and Information Officer Mohamed Mustafa revealed that the council received reports of the murder at around 01:30pm on Saturday.

Found murdered in her bedroom was Nishama Mohamed, 28.

Mustafa highlighted that Nishama was found murdered at around 12:30pm and cited the family having reported that she was found lying dead on her bed.

He also cited the island’s health center having revealed that Nishama was already dead when she was brought in.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has since launched an investigation in connection with the woman’s murder. Police media official received reports of the murder at around 12:30pm.

Police officers had attended the scene immediately after receiving the report.

RaajjeMV understands that the murdered woman’s spouse has since been pinned with allegations in connection with the homicide, due to several reasons particularly as the woman’s body was found with bruises and wounds.

The family as well as credible sources have reported that the man had abruptly departed to Kulhudhuffushi City that morning.

The family has accused Nishama’s husband of physically assaulting her.
