President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed hope to continue working together to achieve progress and prosperity for the people of the SAARC region.
He made this remark in his message of felicitations, sent on the 38th SAARC Charter Day, on Thursday.
The president extended felicitations of the day to Esala Ruwan Weerakoon, the Secretary-General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), the Secretariat, institutions affiliated with SAARC, and the people of the South Asian nations
President Solih in his message, stated that the archipelago nation recognizes the importance of adhering to regional collaboration to ensure peace and stability for all.
He went on to reiterate the island nation’s commitment to the principles and values behind the SAARC Charter.
The Maldivian leader also shed light on the long histories of trade, cultural exchange and goodwill in times of need that have bound the people of the SAARC countries.
SAARC Charter Day is observed annually on December 8.
