President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called for increased cooperation to develop a more interconnected and resilient South Asia.
He said this in a message sent to the Secretary-General, the Secretariat, and all institutions affiliated with the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and the people of the South Asian region on the occasion of the 39th SAARC Charter Day.
Stressing on the significance of considering the principles and values of regional cooperation, promoting peace, stability as well as prosperity in South Asia, the Maldivian leader stated that SAARC has been crucial in addressing regional challenges and advancing shared goals.
President Muizzu called upon renewed commitment to the principles of the SAARC Charter.
He urged for enhanced cooperation to develop a more interconnected and resilient South Asia.
The SAARC Charter Day is celebrated annually on December 8.
