36 chefs have been conferred the ‘CGM Chefs’ Awards’.
The awards were conferred with an aim to acknowledge and encourage artists and chefs working in the culinary industry of the archipelago nation and is an initiative of the Chefs' Guild of Maldives (CGM).
The ceremony to confer the awards was held on Saturday evening. The awards recognize the exceptional skills in the swiftly progressing culinary industry of Maldives.
Awards were presented to recipients at the ceremony by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed.
The awards were conferred in eight categories and the chefs who received these awards include skilled chefs celebrated in the culinary industry for many years.
Skilled chef, Ahmed Maazim was awarded ‘Chef of the Year’ award, at the ceremony.
The culinary industry is deemed a sector closely linked to the tourism sector of Maldives.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih encouraged more members of the youth community to be involved in the culinary industry, to keep the archipelago nation’s tourism pace in the international market.
Highlighting that the awards were a first in the culinary industry of the archipelago nation, the president congratulated members of CGM and recipients of awards at Saturday’s ceremony.
