President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged more involvement from the youth community, in the culinary sector.

The president made this remark while speaking at the first-ever "CGM Chefs Awards" ceremony held on Saturday evening.

The event is an initiative of the Chefs' Guild of Maldives (CGM).

Taking the podium at the event, President Solih encouraged more members of the youth community to be involved in the culinary industry, to keep the archipelago nation’s tourism pace in the international market.

Shedding light on promoting the Maldivian cuisine on the international stage, President Solih noted that there are crucial roles that culinary artists and chefs could play, by using their innovative skills and ideas to promote local flavors.

Describing the world of culinary arts as a productive career path for prospective employees, specifically members of the youth, the president stated that the culinary industry should always be prepared to cater to the growing demand for their skills and talent.

Congratulating members of CGM and recipients of awards at Saturday’s ceremony, President Solih highlighted that the awards were a first in the culinary industry of the archipelago nation.
