Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has disclosed that the Ministry of Tourism is working on to document the story of how the Maldivian tourism industry survived the Covid-19 pandemic.

Minister Mausoom disclosed this in his special interview to RaajjeMV, to celebrate the four year anniversary of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration.

As such, the Minister highlighted that the warm fellowship shown by the whole country during the pandemic is the biggest reason for overcoming the struggles that the country had to face. He stated this fellowship helped in showing the road to success.

Noting that the Maldivian tourism sector survived the pandemic because of the hard work of industry stakeholders, Minister Mausoom went on to say that it is important to document all that was done by the industry stakeholders, before they are forgotten.

The Minister went on to highlight the days resort workers spent away from their families and noted that, this was a huge sacrifice that these staff made to revive the industry.

The Covid-19 pandemic forced the administration to shut down the borders of the country, bringing a complete halt to the tourism industry of the country. However, the administration's decision to reopen the borders in less than four months led to the successful growth of the industry even with a number of hurdles thrown at the industry.

Today, the Maldivian tourism story is used as an example all over the world.
