President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has extended greetings to the people, as the Maldives marks its 55th Republic Day.

In a Twitter post on the occasion of the Maldives’ 55th Republic Day, President Solih extended greetings and felicitations of the day to the people of Maldives.

He went on to express hope that the new republic year brings peace, harmony and joyous blessings to the people of Maldives.

The archipelago nation became a republic in 1968, after many years as a monarchy and celebrates its Republic Day on November 11 each year.

The Republic Day function is scheduled to be held on Friday evening, where the president will address the nation.

Further, the president will also be conferring the President’s National Awards for Special Achievement to recipients at the official function.

The special achievement awards as well as the Special Medal for Memorizing the Holy Quran will be presented at this year’s function to be held at Dharubaaruge.

President Solih will be conferring the awards to 13 individuals who memorized the Holy Quran entirely while attaining the highest grade, nine individuals who achieved exceptional distinction in completing studies at MQA rank 10, and 41 individuals who graduated in the highest rank.

Further, award recipients also include an individual recognized for skill and innovation and an organization for its contributions to human resources development in the field of tourism.
