Dhiraagu has signed as the Digital Partner for Vaavoshi Turtle Festival 2022.
Vaavoshi Turtle Festival 2022 is the first multi-atoll festival to take place in the Maldives.
Vaavoshi Turtle Festival is organised by the Olive Ridley Project.
The festival is scheduled to take place on 29 October across nine islands. They are; N. Lhohi, R. Fainu, B. Goidhoo, Lh. Hinnavaru, K. Huraa, K. Maafushi, V. Keyodhoo, and S. Feydhoo.
The Vaavoshi Turtle Festival will be held in collaboration with the schools of these islands, with participation of students up to Grade 12. The aim of the festival is to celebrate the sea turtle population in the Maldives while highlighting and raising awareness about the threats that sea turtles and other marine life face in the country.
Festival activities include beach clean-ups, ‘Conservation Conversations’ awareness sessions by various environmental organizations and a Vaavoshi Festival Rally where students will pledge to protect sea turtles.
Additionally, earlier this month, a nation-wide poster design competition was open for students as well.
Dhiraagu states that the company remains committed to supporting initiatives that focus on conserving the country's environment. They also highlights that this is a key focus of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
