Contributions of Majeediyya School continue to benefit the nation: Pres.
VP Naseem also presented plaques, to private partners who have supported the school over the years

The numerous contributions made by Majeediyya School, continue to benefit the nation, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The president made this remark during a special function held to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the school on Tuesday evening.

As such, taking the podium at the event, President Solih applauded the many contributions the school’s alumni has made to national development, with which the nation has immensely benefited since the school’s inception.

Highlighting that the successes of the school’s continued efforts over the past 95 years to produce valuable young people were commemorated at the event, President Solih went on to recall the invaluable services by the late Hussain Salahuddin, the founder of Majeediyya School.

President Solih said that the establishment of the school marked the beginning of institutional education for Maldivian youth.

Shedding light on the priority accorded by parents to ensure quality education for their children, the president went on to speak regarding the progress observed by the national education system.

As such, he noted that the establishment of the school had marked the commencement of education on a national level.

Going on to note the development of the education sector over the years, President Solih touched upon the phases of development and the many partialities that had to be overcome.

Highlighting that today’s education system recognizes the right of every child to a quality education, the president said that the law requires the state and parents to ensure early childhood education and primary schooling for every child.

Describing Majeediyya School as an institution representing pride and dignity in its pursuit of educational excellence, President Solih said that the institution is a “proud” legacy of the island nation’s heritage.

With this being said, he said that it is the national duty of the people to loyally and carefully pass it down through the generations as a “valuable” national treasure.

Stating that the school has produced young people for every sector of national development, President Solih noted that members of the school's alumni continue to serve in every industry and level, providing invaluable services in various capacities.

The event saw President Solih presenting plaques of appreciation to the members of the Majeediyya School staff who had served the school for over 25 years.

First Lady Fazna Ahmed, Vice President Faisal Naseem, senior government officials, members of the school management and alumni joined the event.

Further, at the event FL Fazna conferred plaques of appreciation to staff who have served for over 20 years.

VP Naseem also presented plaques, to private partners who have supported the school over the years.

Majeediyya School was established initially as Madhrasathul Salaahiyyaa on 19 April 1927 as the first-ever government school of Maldives.
