The Maldivian Government has spent MVR 900.3 million on Water and Sewerage development projects in islands.

According to the statistics publicized by the Ministry of Finance on 18 October 2022, the Maldivian government has spent MVR 4.8 billion on PSIP projects, by 13 October 2022.

Statistics show that highest expenditure was made on water and sewerage development projects. As such a total of MVR 900.3 million was spent on the sector this year.

These include MVR 757.5 million on installation of water and sewerage systems in islands, MVR 29.1 million spent on sewerage system installation and MVR 113.6 million spent on water systems.

Ministry's statistics goes on to reveal that MVR 477 million was spent on housing and infrastructure projects, MVR 217.1 million on land reclamation, MVR 501.1 million on road construction and MVR 589.3 million on harbor development projects.

Additionally, the government has spent MVR 513.2 million on bridge development projects and MVR 420.8 million on airport development projects.

The government has so far spent; MVR 29.5 million on national security and public order, MVR 108.5 million on development of health services, MVR 243.8 million on education sector and MVR 509.3 million on environmental protection projects.

As such, MVR 191.2 million was spent on waste management projects, MVR 231 million was spent on coastal protection projects, MVR 77.5 million was spent on renewable energy projects and MVR 9.6 million was spent on water drainage systems.

By October 13, 2022, the Maldivian Government's expenditure has reached MVR 31.5 billion according to the Finance Ministry. As such, statistics show that the state spent MVR 21.2 billion as recurrent expenditure and MVR 7.7 billion as capital expenditure.

The government has also spent MVR 2.5 billion towards loan repayment and MVR 627.9 million was transferred to the Sovereign Development Fund.

Ministry of Finance revealed that the state has received MVR 21.2 billion as revenue, so far this year.
