"China's contributions in Maldives’ socio-economic development has been extraordinary"

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Abdulla Shahid has stated that the contributions made by China towards the Maldives’ socio-economic development has been extraordinary.

He stated this in his message of felicitation to the State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi, on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Maldives and the People’s Republic of China.

In his message, the Maldivian Minister stated that China's contributions in Maldives’ socio-economic development has been extraordinary, positively inducing economic growth and investment in multiple spheres.

He went on to highlight that the relationship between the two countries have stood the test of time, becoming one of friendship and close cooperation, over the past 50 years.

Highlighting that relationship between Maldives and China is founded upon the shared respect for each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the Maldives’ firm commitment to the One-China Principle, Minister Shahid stated that the Maldives will continue to make every effort to further improve its bilateral relations with China.

The Minister went on to add that he looks forward to a period of close engagement and collaboration between the countries. He also noted that he looks forward to the collective efforts of the two countries to further enhance the long-standing bilateral ties in the years ahead.

Additionally, the Maldivian Minister took the opportunity to extend warm greetings and best wishes to the Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi, the Government, and the friendly people of China on the very special occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and China.

Minister Shahid concluded his message by extending assurances of his highest consideration.
