A ferry stop has been constructed in Thakandhoo island of Haa Alif atoll.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) was contracted the project by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
MTCC on Tuesday revealed that they have completed the construction of a ferry hut in Thakandhoo island.
The company revealed that this falls within the purview of ferry stops constructed in Zone One under the “Raajje Transport Link” project.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC constructed a kiosk, a universal toilet and a waiting area in Thakandhoo island.
RTL is a high-speed ferry system initiated to link all of the atolls of Maldives, under the Integrated National Public Ferry Network.
The network is designed to connect the three zones and six regions of the National Special Plan (2020-2040), including passenger and freight ferries.
The ferry network will connect all the islands in six regions and there are three different methods set to connect passenger ferries; "Commute Link", "Non-Commute Link" and "Highway Link".
The project is scheduled to be implemented in three phases.
