After inaugurating the Police Post, the president toured the facility

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the Police Post established in Thakandhoo island of Haa Alif atoll.

The ceremony was held as part of a special event in Thakandhoo during the president's ongoing tour of some islands in Haa Alif atoll.

After gracing the ceremony held in Thakandhoo and inaugurating the Police Post, the president also hoisted the national flag at the Police Post.

The police flag was hoisted by Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau.

After inaugurating the Police Post, the president toured the facility.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has said that with the unveiling of the Thakandhoo Police Post, police activities on the island will be further expanded and services can be provided closer to the citizens.

The police institution has been working to establish some level of police service across all islands. As such, they have been working on building police stations, police posts, and police desks across the scatter of islands comprising the Maldives.

As such, over the past year alone, police posts have been inaugurated across 23 islands and services have since commenced. The government's target is to begin police services across all inhabited islands before the end of 2026.

Police activities are being increased at a time several police officers are being deployed in zones to ensure safety on the streets of the capital Malé City.
