President departs on unofficial visit to Singapore
President's Office has yet not disclosed President Solih's return date to the country
The First Lady is not accompanying him on the trip to Singapore this time
President Solih has previously visited Singapore thrice this year

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has departed on an unofficial visit to Singapore.

The President Solih departed to Singapore on an unofficial visit on Wednesday.

President Solih has visited Singapore three times this year.

His first visit to Singapore was from February 10 to February 15.

His second visit was from February 23 to March 06. The President, in a Twitter post, revealed that the purpose of his visit to Singapore was to seek medical treatment for Thyroid, upon doctor recommendation.

As such, during the trip the president underwent surgery on his thyroid on 24 Februrary, following advice from his doctors. For the time of the surgery the presidential responsibilities and power were temporarily transferred to Vice President Faisal Naseem, as required by law..

VP Naseem took oath early Friday, as stipulated in Article 126 of the Maldives Constitution. His oath was administered by Chief Justice Ahmed Muthasim Adnan.

Following his successful surgery, President Solih resumed his official duties at 09:30am on Friday, in accordance with Article 123 (a) of the Constitution, after notifying the Speaker of the People’s Majlis and Former President Mohamed Nasheed, in writing.

President Solih was discharged from the hospital on February 28.

The third trip was from April 14 to April 17.

First Lady Fazna Ahmed accompanied President Solih on these three visits he made to Singapore. However, the First Lady is not accompanying him on the trip to Singapore this time.

President's Office has yet not disclosed President Solih's return date to the country.
