New High Commissioners have been appointed to India and Malaysia.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the appointment on Monday.

Ibrahim Shaheeb was appointed the new High Commissioner of Maldives to India, with Ali Hussain Didi being appointed the High Commissioner of Maldives to Malaysia.

Shaheeb and Didi were presented with their Letters of Appointment during a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Monday morning.

Shaheeb completed his Masters in Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore.

Prior to his appointment, the new Maldivian High Commissioner to India served as the Chief of Protocol, and Additional Secretary, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Holder of a Post Graduate Diploma and MSc in Transport Management and Planning from the Loughborough University of Technology in the UK, Ali Hussain Didi earlier served as the High Commissioner to Sri Lanka.

Didi also served as the Ambassador of Maldives to the European Union and the Kingdom of Belgium.

Other positions he filled include Controller of Immigration at the Department of Immigration, the President of Malé Municipal Council and Chief Executive Officer at the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
