Level of peace within a society can measure the success of reform efforts: Pres.
 
He said this in an address given on the occasion of the International Day of Non-Violence, on Sunday
 
The president noted that the people want positive reforms, which cannot be achieved through power and brute force
 
The day is commemorated with an aim of promoting dialogue concerning peace, tolerance, understanding and non-violence.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the level of peace and harmony within a society will measure the success of reform efforts by the government.

He said this in an address given on the occasion of the International Day of Non-Violence, on Sunday.

As such, he noted that the success of reforms can be measured by the level of peace that exists within societies and that changes imposed through disruption and violence do not lead to peace.

Further, the president noted that working towards social and political changes while avoiding violence and injustice is the goal of celebrating the International Day of Non-Violence.

As such, the president noted that the people want positive reforms, which cannot be achieved through power and brute force.

The president was presented with a badge by the Ministry of Home Affairs, to commemorate the day.

The International Day of Non-Violence has been observed by the United Nations since 2007 and is celebrated every October 2.

The day is commemorated with the aim of promoting dialogue concerning peace, tolerance, understanding and non-violence.
