President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has commenced a tour of four islands of Haa Alif and Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
President Solih departed on his three-day official on Monday morning.
The President will visit Haa Dhaalu Naivaadhoo, Haa Dhaalu Finey, Haa Alifu Utheemu and Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo during the tour.
During the tour, President Solih will inaugurate infrastructure projects initiated by the government on these islands.
Some of the projects include the installation of water and sewerage systems and the construction of new powerhouses.
Additionally, the President Solih will attend the ceremony held to mark the official commencement of the Zone 1 of Raajje Transport Link (RTL). Zone 1 of RTL connects 41 islands in the Bodu-Thiladhunmathi region with a high-speed ferry service.
During the visit, President Solih will also meet with members of the island councils and Women’s Development Committees (WDC) of the four islands.
Moreover, First Lady Fazna Ahmed will join the President in Haa Alifu Utheemu, where this year’s National Day celebrations are officially being held.
The President, accompanied by senior government officials, is due to return to Malé on Wednesday.
