A manhunt has been launched for an individual who set a shop ablaze in Hithadhoo district of southernmost Addu City.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) has sought public assistance in locating the man, who is accused of setting ‘Blossom’ shop in Hithadhoo district, ablaze.
The arson case is being probed by the Addu City Hithadhoo Police Station.
The incident is reported to have occurred on September 5.
In a Twitter post, police appealed on the public to help them locate the man, seen in a CCTV video footage attached, which shows the suspect setting the shop ablaze.
Police efforts to identify and locate the man have been to no avail, so far.
The public has been urged to contact the Hithadhoo Police Station through 9791612, if any information is acquired on the suspect.
The video shows a masked person breaking the display of the shop with what looked like a brick before emptying a bottle believed to be petrol into the shop, subsequently setting the place on fire.
