The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted the shore protection project, of the newly reclaimed land in Dhiggaru island of Meemu atoll.
The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure awarded the project to MTCC on Wednesday.
The contract was signed by MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim on behalf of the company and Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Hameed, on behalf of the ministry.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to construct a geotube revetment measuring 1,470 meters.
The project is valued at MVR 17.29 million.
The project was contracted to be completed within 210 days.
As part of the land reclamation and shore protection project in Dhiggaru island, MTCC was required to reclaim 25 hectares of land and construct a rock boulder revetment measuring 384 meters.
The project was valued at MVR 121.8 million. The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the project to MTCC on 10 November 2020. The land reclamation and shore protection of Dhiggaru island was mobilized on 20 March 2021
