Vice President Faisal Naseem has urged the general public to cooperate with the Maldives Police Service (MPS).
He said this while speaking at the ceremony held to commemorate Police Service Day at Iskandar Koshi on Thursday morning.
As such, taking the podium at the event, the vice president called on members of the public to cooperate with police officers in a bid to strengthen law enforcement across the country.
Highlighting that maintaining the public's confidence in law enforcement requires providing unbiased service in line with the police professional standards, VP Naseem applauded the progress the police institution has made in protecting the people.
Further, he encouraged collaborative efforts from the public and the police to bring about peace and development across the country.
VP Naseem also appealed on the public to assist law enforcement in achieving their goal of maintaining harmony within the society.
Going on to shed light on the incumbent administration’s efforts to maintain peace across the Maldives, VP Naseem noted the work being done to keep the members of youth communities nationwide, away from drugs.
Thursday’s ceremony saw VP Naseem presenting commemorative plaques to long-serving staff.
The Maldives Police Service commemorates the Police Service Day every year on September 1.
