Waheed revealed that 1,365 individuals are eligible to participate in the congress
MDP held a press conference on Friday afternoon
1,178 individuals have been registered to participate in the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Congress.
This was revealed by the MDP Congress Chairperson Ibrahim Waheed, during a presser hosted late Friday afternoon.
As such, Waheed revealed that 1,365 individuals are eligible to participate in the congress.
The party began issuing permits to participate in the congress, with more than 900 out of 1,708 already having been issued permits.
Highlighting that specific individuals will be allowed inside the main hall of the congress, Waheed noted that MDP members will be granted entry, from the top floor of the Social Center.
Ahmed Abdulla, a senior member of the party, revealed that participants will need to enter the congress from the gate in front of Maafannu School, where they have to go through security screening and show their permits in order to be granted entry.
MDP has urged the members to arrive ahead of the starting time of the congress.
More than 200 party members have travelled to the capital for the Congress from outer islands , and the attendance will see the highest count of elected leaders , to date.
