The incumbent administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih initiated the most significant development projects in Feydhoo island of Shaviyani atoll, says the island council.
The president met with council members and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) members of Feydhoo island on Thursday.
During the meeting held at the President’s Office, the president and Feydhoo council and WDC members discussed development plans for the island, as well as the island community’s needs.
The meeting saw Feydhoo councilors expressing gratitude to the president and his administration for putting in their best efforts to fulfil the development pledges made to the island residents.
With this being said, the councilors noted that the most significant development projects on the island had been initiated during the incumbent administration’s tenure.
Discussions also revolved around tourism development, space constraints at the council secretariat, policing, coastal erosion and the need for sports establishments, including a handball court.
Views of the council regarding the ongoing harbor development project were also shared with the president.
Listening to these concerns, the president expressed confidence that the concerns raised at the meeting, will be solved soon.
As such, he assured the council and WDC members of Feydhoo island that the government plans to address the issue of coastal protection as well as the issues facing the harbor development work.
He also expressed his appreciation to the island community for accepting his development agenda.
