The fourth congress of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is scheduled to be held from 19th to 21st of August.
The party stated that the congress will commence at the Social center. For the start of the congress on the 19th, there will be a special segment to highlight the successes achieved by MDP in the past 17 years according to their statement.
On the press conference held on Wednesday the member of the peoples’ parliament and the elected vice chairperson Ibrahim Waheed (Iburey) revealed that the 1447 delegates will have to join the congress. The preparations to join the congress and the registration is available online and so far, 823 people have signed up.
Ibrahim Waheed stated that this congress will have the most amount elected members. Which includes, members of the parliament, presidents of different branches, councilors and mayors.

MDPs 4th will focus on 3 main things. Which are discussing and deciding the changes to be made to the regulations of the party as well as the changes to be made to the laws and regulations. Change to the governing of the country was suggested by the president of MDP, President Mohammed Nasheed according to MDP.
In this congress members of MDP will be meeting different government bodies, to discuss the development of different islands as well as winning further elections and ways to achieve these goals. This is the first event with such possibilities and goals in mind.
MDP members and members of other parties have been invited to this event.
