The body of a young woman who was brutally murdered, has been discovered in an apartment in Male’ City.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) disclosed that the body of a 22 year old Maldivian woman was discovered late Saturday night. The murder is reported to have occurred on the 9th floor of H. Sheereen Villa, and the victim was identified as Shiaau Mohamed Saeed, Kuri, Fuvahmulah City.

MPS disclosed that the case was reported to the authority at around 12:30am on Saturday night.

The victim's body was found with deep wounds and cuts. As such, her limbs were reported to have been completely dismembered, and some reports suggest her neck was also severed. However police have not so far confirmed these reports .

Additionally, eye witnesses say the victim's body was loaded onto the ambulance in two separate body bags. The victim, Shiaau’s  body was transported to Gololhu Mortuary.

Maldives police service confirmed that Ali Shaahil, 22, Finfenmaage, F. Nilandhoo was arrested in connection with the case, from the crime scene. He does not have any previous criminal records and is reported to have denied killing his lover .

Criminal Court, on Sunday, has ordered the detention of Shaahil, pending completion of his trial.
