The Foreign Service Institute of Maldives (FOSIM) has launched an orientation programme for new recruits who joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The programme is aimed for employees who joined the ministry from December 2021.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel inaugurated the orientation programme.

Speaking at the inauguration, the state minister shed light on the significance of conducting regular orientation and refresher programmes for staff to effectively function in the ministry.

He went on to reiterate that every employee at the ministry is responsible to represent the Maldives and to promote the national interest of the country in accordance with the foreign policy.

With this being said, he noted that such programmes will enhance the skills and capabilities of staff to function as successful diplomats.

The programme will see participants briefed on the foreign policy, diplomatic language and communication as well as the organization structure and the ministry’s departments, down to bilateral relations, multilateral affairs, budgeting and management as well as training on protocol and etiquettes.

The orientation sessions on Thursday, were conducted by senior officials of the ministry including Chief of Protocol Aishath Shaan Shakir and various Heads of Departments.

The programme will proceed till June 22.
