The Maldives Customs Service has confiscated 852 grams of drugs that were being smuggled into the Maldives.

Customs revealed that a drug mule was caught due to suspicious behavior after having arrived in the Maldives on an aircraft of Sri Lankan Airways on May 30.

Customs officers stopped the individual and conducted a scan, through which they found that the individual had attempted to smuggle drugs into the Maldives by swallowing them.

The department revealed that the 80 bullets found inside the man’s insides contained narcotic substances that tested positive to heroin.

It has been revealed that the 852 grams of narcotics carry an estimated black-market value of USD one million.

The confiscated narcotics have since been handed over to the Maldives Police Service (MPS).
