Three individuals have been arrested in connection with a drug bust in Alif Dhaal atoll.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that three Maldivian men aged 22-years , 23-years 24-years were arrested.

The arrests were made during an operation carried out on Wednesday, after an intelligence report received by the MPS Intelligence Unit that narcotics were being smuggled into a resort in Alif Dhaal atoll.

In the ensuing operation, officers confiscated 90 pieces of cellophane as well as two film cannisters filled with suspected narcotics and a bottle of alcohol from the three men, near the harbor of the island.

The arrests were made with joint efforts by the intelligence unit, and police officers stationed in Maamigili and Fenfushi islands of Alif Dhaal atoll.

The Maamigili Police Station is currently conducting further investigations into the drug bust.
