An individual has been arrested in connection with a drug bust.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that arrested person was an 18-year-old Maldivian man.
The arrest was made on May 4 and the suspect has since been remanded by 15 days, after being presented to the Criminal Court for his remand hearing.
The drugs in question were being smuggled into the Maldives through courier, before being confiscated by the Maldives Customs Service on April 28.
Customs revealed that they confiscated the narcotics after searching multiple parcels that were sent by air, through courier.
The confiscated drugs weigh 1,363 kilograms and some of the narcotics confiscated, tested positive to Methamphetamine, more commonly known as meth.
Customs revealed that the drugs carried a black market value of MVR 500,000.
