Vice President Faisal Naseem has arrived in New York City, the United States of America on an official visit.
The Maldivian Vice President was received at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives ,who is also President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Abdulla Shahid on Tuesday.
The visit will see VP Naseem attending the high-level thematic debate convened by the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
The debate, revolving around the theme "Putting sustainable and resilient tourism at the heart of an inclusive recovery”, has been organized in collaboration with the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
Member states and other relevant stakeholders will be given the opportunity to discuss strategies and share best practices and experiences in three high-level thematic roundtable discussions, within the event.
The Vice President is accompanied by his wife Aishath Shamsadha and a high-level delegation.
VP Naseem and his delegation will conclude their visit to the U.S. and return home on May 11.
