Vice President Faisal Naseem is headed to New York City, the United States of America on an official visit.
The vice president departed from Velana International Airport (VIA) on Sunday evening and is accompanied by his spouse Aishath Shamsadha and a high-level delegation.
The visit will see VP Naseem attending the high-level thematic debate convened by the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
The debate, revolving around the theme "Putting sustainable and resilient tourism at the heart of an inclusive recovery”, has been organized in collaboration with the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
Member states and other relevant stakeholders have will be given the opportunity to discuss strategies and share best practices and experiences in three high-level thematic roundtable discussions, within the event.
VP Naseem and his delegation will conclude their visit to the U.S. and return to Maldives on May 11.
