The first shipment of rock boulders for the harbor extension project in Hinnavaru island of Lhaviyani atoll, has been delivered.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed this on Monday, highlighting that the first shipment of rock boulders required for the project were delivered to the project site on Sunday.
Currently ongoing are the concrete works of the quay wall which is at 66 percent progress.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to reclaim 3.2 hectares of land, dredge 65,170.76 cubic meters, construct a quay wall measuring 421 meters and a breakwater measuring 123.9 meters.
Further, they are required to build a revetment of 170.55 meters and construct a groyne as well as a harbor pavement.
The project was contracted to MTCC by the Ministry of National Planning Housing and Infrastructure on 10 November 2020.
The project, valued at MVR 99.52 million was mobilized on 13 March 2021.
It was contracted to be completed within 350 days.
