The new High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Maldives, Rear Admiral S M Abul Kalam Azad, ( NGP, ndc, psc, ) has expressed commitment to continue working closely with the Maldivian government to strengthen cooperation.

The new Bangladeshi HC paid a courtesy call on the Foreign Secretary of Maldives, Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed on Wednesday.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ghafoor congratulated the Bangladeshi HC on presenting his credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and wished him success during his tenure.

Going on to thank the government of Bangladesh for the unending support and assistance extended to the island nation in multiple spheres over the years, Ghafoor highlighted the multiple and significant contributions made by the community of Bangladeshi workers in the Maldives, to the socio-economic growth of Maldives.

The meeting saw High Commissioner Azad expressing his gratitude to the foreign secretary for the warm welcome.

He also expressed resolve to continue working closely with the government and people of Maldives to strengthen cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral arenas.

The meeting was joined by Joint Secretary Fathimath Ghina and Senior Desk Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aishath Leen Fazeeh.
