President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is in Maafushi island of Kaafu atoll.
The president departed to the island on Tuesday afternoon and is expected to attend a ceremony to hand over the newly reclaimed area and picnic island to the Maafushi Island Council.
He is also scheduled to inaugurate the new football stadium developed on the island as part of the one-day trip.
Solih will be visiting Maafushi Prison and Maafushi Health Center where meetings will be held with the management and staff.
As part of the trip he will also be meeting members of the island council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC).
A high-level delegation of government officials are accompanying the president during the brief visit.
