The Civil Procedure Code has been ratified.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih ratified the bill on Thursday, upon which it has been publicized in the government gazette.
Passed by the People’s Majlis at the 44th sitting of its third session of 2021 on November 29, the bill will come into effect six months from ratification date.
The regulations and rules linked to pre-trial procedures, proceedings at trial, general rules of evidence applicable to civil cases, judgments, orders as well as enforcement of judgments in civil proceedings will be covered in the Civil Procedure Code.
The code carries the purpose of enhancing the efficiency of the civil litigation process and to ensure that the cases are decided in a just and transparent manner.
It will be applied to all courts overseeing civil matters in the country.
