Discussions have been held on the government’s development initiatives for the island of Feridhoo in Alif Alif atoll.
During a meeting held with the island council, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih assured them that funds for the harbor development project on the island had been allocated, adding that he will explore how the coastal protection project can be accommodated.
The meeting saw Feridhoo councilors briefing the president on the requirements and concerns of the island community.
As such, they highlighted the need for a harbor, coastal protection, healthcare service expansion, sports facilities, the requirement of a multi-purpose hall for the school and banking services.
Socio-economic needs of the island community were also shared with the president.
President Solih, listening to these concerns, expressed confidence that amicable solutions to the challenges and difficulties facing the island community may be sought.
