Maldives has confirmed two more Covid-19 fatalities.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirmed the death of a 54-year-old woman at around 2am on Monday, followed by the confirmation of another victim at around 10:42am; a 90-year-old man.
The woman was receiving treatment at Noonu Atoll Hospital before being pronounced the 249th victim of the fatal infection early Monday.
The 250th victim was confirmed with the passing of the 90-year-old man, who was receiving treatment at Hulhumalé Medical Facility.
Both victims were identified as Maldivians.
This comes a little over a week after the 248th Covid-19 fatality was reported with the death of a 75-year-old Maldivian woman at Hulhumalé Medical Facility on November 17.
This has pushed the number of Covid-19 fatalities reported so far in November to seven.
Of the 250 deaths linked to coronavirus reported in the Maldives so far, 200 have been reported so far this year.
The island nation reported the highest number of deaths in a single month since the pandemic began, during May 2021, when a total of 88 deaths were confirmed. 50 deaths were confirmed in June while 10 deaths were reported in July. In August, five Covid-19 patients succumbed to the virus, September also saw five Covid-19 fatalities. 12 Covid-19 fatalities were reported in October.
Maldives reported its first Covid-19 fatality in April 2020.
