President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has affirmed that the land reclamation project in Hirilandhoo island of Thaa atoll, will proceed as promised.
The president met with councilors from the island on Sunday, where discussions revolved around the needs and concerns of the island community.
Mohamed Jalal, the president of the council revealed that he was satisfied with the development vision for the island, set to begin in 2022.
President Solih was briefed on the concerns regarding delays in multiple projects including land reclamation, water and sewerage, and infrastructure development in the Hirilandhoo School.
Further, Jalal talked about the need to improve health services, including access to healthcare services and medicine in the island.
He expressed gratitude on behalf of the island community, stating that the government has paved a path towards the progress of the island.
The meeting also saw President Solih briefing the council on the development initiatives discussed at the meeting, assuming that the infrastructural development project to develop classrooms and a multi-purpose hall will be tendered soon.
