Prosecutor decides ex-MP Alhan Fahmy not liable in SanguTV ownership dispute

The Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office has decided not to charge former MP Alhan Fahmy in SanguTV’s ownership dispute.
Ruling party MP Yameen Rasheed had attempted to charge Fahmy for providing legal advice to SanguTV’s Managing Director Ibrahim ‘Asward’ Waheed, when he charged the forgery claims against his partner.
MP Yameen and Asward were equal partners in Cocona International before the latter party allegedly forged the parliamentarian’s signature to have 49 percent of the company’s shares transferred to him.
While Asward currently owns 99 percent of the company, he maintains that MP Yameen had transferred his shares of his own accord. A company secretary has testified to Yameen having been present when the shares were transferred.
Although, the police had included charges against Fahmy when the case was filed for prosecution, the PG’s Office decided that there are no grounds under which the former parliamentarian can be held culpable.
