Seve Paeniu, the Minister of Finance and Climate Change of Tuvalu has applauded the government of Maldives, for its unceasing efforts in the battle against climate change.

The Tuvalu minister paid a courtesy call on Maldives president, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday.

The meeting saw discussions revolving around ways through which the bilateral ties between Maldives and Tuvalu may be taken to new heights.

Welcoming the minister to the Maldives, the Maldivian president extended heartfelt gratitude for the immense efforts of the Tuvalu government to voice the urgency of climate change issues, related to Small Island Developing States (SIDS) at the COP26 summit held in Glasgow, Scotland.

Further, the pair also engaged in discussions regarding the Covid-19 situation in both countries, fishing, tourism and climate change.

The meeting saw the minister shedding light on the important roles played by the Maldivian president, as well as the Maldivian Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Technology Aminath Shauna during COP26.
