Bank of Maldives has made a donation of MVR 80,000 to two local non-profit organizations.
After a one-year break, the country’s national bank hosted its annual ‘Staff Charity Run’ on Thursday.
The run, held as part of the bank’s 39th anniversary, was joined by BML employees as well as members of the Board of Directors.
After the run concluded, the donation was presented to the Maldives Deaf Association and Beautiful Eyes Down Syndrome Association to support programs organized by the NGOs.
According to BML, the donation will fund sign language courses to be held by the Deaf Association as well as to train 30 behavioral therapists for their work nationwide, by the Beautiful Eyes NGO.
I am delighted to be able to resume our annual Staff Charity Run and through it, raise funds to support causes benefiting the community. Today is also the Bank’s anniversary and on this occasion, I extend my gratitude to our customers for their continued loyalty, and to our employees who continue to be a part of change that sets an example to other organizations.”Tim Sawyer, BML CEO and Managing Director.
Held annually since 2017, the ‘Staff Charity Run’ was not held during 2020.
BML conducts regular events to support community initiatives.
