Union Minister of the government of India Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has paid a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The union minister of the new Indian Council of Ministers called on the Maldivian leader, as part of his ongoing official visit to the neighboring country to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the new Council of Ministers, in New Delhi.

Discussions at the meeting revolved around bilateral collaboration.

President Muizzu and Minister Jaishankar expressed mutual keenness to boost cooperation in areas of shared values and mutual interest.

The Maldivian leader thanked PM Modi and the Indian government for the continued assistance extended to the government of Maldives over the years.

Muizzu expressed honor in having been able to attend Modi’s swearing-in ceremony.

In response, Jaishankar expressed gratitude for the president of Maldives, for accepting the invitation and participating in the swearing-in ceremony.

Before concluding the meeting, Muizzu and Jaishankar reaffirmed their mutual commitment to boost the collaboration between the two neighboring countries, in the coming years.

Jaishankar, the new Union Minister of India, earlier served as Minister of External Affairs, during the second term of the Indian PM.
